Pontefract 10k 2026
By Vicky Almond

This is one of my favourite 10K races. It disappeared for a few years, so it’s fantastic to see it back again under a new sponsor.
The route is described as undulating and moderately hilly, but if you’re used to running around Morley, those hills feel like nothing! It’s a really enjoyable course and well worth signing up for the scenery alone.
The race starts and finishes in Pontefract Park, heading out before looping around North Featherstone and returning to the park.

Representing MRC in the sunshine this year were Zoe, Vikki, and myself (apologies if I’ve missed anyone). It was great to have support out on the course too—thanks to John Keighley for the encouragement on the way out and for the photos.
We’ll definitely be back again next year! It’s relatively inexpensive and includes a T-shirt and a medal.
