Parkrun League 2025
This is open to all registered members of Morley Running Club, but to be eligible you MUST have Morley Running Club as your official club on the parkrun website... not Morley Runners, or any other ones... if you aren't sure which club you are attached to on there, check!! And yes, sadly this means that our friends who are Lakers, Pudsey Pacers, Morley Tri etc aren't eligible - but are still very welcome to join in for fun!!
Every month, there will be one local parkrun that is the nominated club parkrun for that month. The next one will be SATURDAY 17th MAY at YORK!!! That means there will be 12 league runs over the year, as in 2024 there will be no minimum number needed to have been run to be in with a chance of winning, however it will still be your best 9 results that will be used. Run 10 best 9 count, run 8 all 8 count.
The points will be awarded using the age graded scores on the parkrun website, so it is not down to just time... so everyone has a chance!!
For those unfamiliar, our parkrun League awards points based on your age grade, but more than that, it's an opportunity to run and socialise with other club members at a selection of local park runs over the course of the year. You do not need to be a fast runner to participate, we would just love to see you there so we can support you on your own parkrun journey!
We are introducing a new scoring system for this year's parkrun League, as follows:
-
You must have Morley Running Club listed as your primary group membership on your parkrun profile (https://www.parkrun.com/profile/groups) to participate, and please wear your MRC kit, if you have it - both to help promote the club as well as making it easier to spot you, take your photo & cheer you on. Then you just run, no further sign up required
-
We will still give 50 points to best age grade amongst the club runners, 49 for second best etc. all the way down to 1 point for 50th (fantastic if this many turn up!)
-
We will again offer a fixed 25 points (instead of points for running - can't get both!) for anyone on the volunteer list for the nominated event
-
This year we are introducing NEW bonus points. You will be awarded 5 bonus points for finishing first in your age/gender category amongst all runners (MRC or not) at that event, 4 points for second etc. down to 1 bonus point for 5th in category overall
-
In addition, to liven things up, we are also adding the ability to play a "Joker" on any ONE League parkrun of your choice, which will double the total points earned from that run (so maximum would then be a theoretical 110 points if you were top MRC runner and also top of your age/gender category and had played your Joker) - you need to let James Adams know if you would like to play your Joker by the Friday before the relevant run please! If you don't use the Joker by year end, you lose it and get no advantage - seems obvious but to be clear
-
Unlike previous years, we are not running any bonus points scheme for beating a particular time later in the year
